Jonathan is dual qualified in accountancy and tax and has worked in practice for 40 years in various sized firms having experience in many areas identified below in key experience.

Jonathan helps staff develop having mentored people from when they started in accountancy through to equity directors. He also helps clients achieve their aims and objectives including dozens through sale processes from both a due diligence and taxation perspective as well as helping clients of all sizes in their good and tough times. Jonathan has an MA in pure Leadership (Exeter University), and an MBA (Reading) so understands leadership and strategy more than most accountants who are very numbers based. Running a business is much more than just numbers.

Jonathan also has two degrees from Oxford University and has run a number of accountancy firms for 30 years at managing partner level.

Key Experience:

  • Lead advisor for due diligence and taxation implications of a household clothing name in the acquisition of a boutique shoe factory (another household name) in the UK.
  • Lead advisor in various sales of companies to include price determination, contract negotiation and taxation issues for the sellers – both UK and international – hand holding throughout.
  • Expert court witness in share disputes including matrimonial divorce as well as business breakups.
  • Expert share valuation appointed by other accountants or our own clients for a variety of reasons such as price expectation on sale, bringing in new people, EMI schemes etc.
  • Statutory audits for UK subsidiaries of listed entities around the world including the US and Europe.
  • Statutory audits of several UK entities and service charge audits.
  • Tax planning for individuals, companies, and groups worldwide.
  • Service charge accounts sign off in accordance with Tech 03/11.
  • EMI schemes for those with a KPI objective before issue or exit only schemes.
  • SEIS and EIS approval requests and subsequent administration.
  • Hansard HMRC tax investigations where jail can be a penalty.
  • HMRC tax investigations of HNWI and various others who may seek help on even trivial matters of non-compliance.
  • SRA reports.

Interests

Jonathan has a great life outside of work. He has motorbikes and guitars and a deep love of philosophy which was part of his original degree (PPE). Health is important to him, so he exercises most days, and most importantly he has a superb family and various animals from alpacas to dogs to keep him entertained and happy.
